The Moselle and holiday area of Cochem

The region around Cochem is the most interesting and most magnificent scenic area along the Moselle. A holiday area, including not only the town of Cochem, but also the 12 Moselle and 4 Eifel communities of the municipality of Cochem, covering a total area of around 15,000 hectares, the holiday region of Cochem has around 16,000 inhabitants.

The landscape is dominated by wine and has an interesting holiday and recreation area with wide-ranging and varied recreational opportunities. Choose from cycling through the romantic wine village towns or walk through the vineyard heights with panoramic views, excursions to attractive sights, boat trips, water sports on the Moselle (rowing, sailing surfing, fishing), ball sports, comfortable carriage rides, horseback riding, fishing and many other options. Your selection is colourful and varied.

Over the 2000 year history, Cochem is not only interesting architecturally with many attractions, but also has a rich history with many folklore and wine events. Between Klottern and Metternich in Beilstein, there are medieval market places and lovingly restored half-timbered houses show pieces of Moselle architecture. The numerous chapels called “Heilgehäuschen” (little chapels) are testimonies of the living past, are found amidst the vineyards.
